Thal Themar houses the largest population of elves on the Material Plane, giving it the unofficial position as the racial capital of the elven race. The city stands as the diplomatic seat for leaders of the Thal Themar meritocracy, and extends its influence moderately into the surrounding rainforests. == Appearance == Thal Themar is a city of elevation and height. While there are a few buildings constructed from wood and leaves positioned elegantly on the forest floor, the vast majority of the city hangs among and within the trees above. In reference to their uncertain heritage, the elves of Thal Themar named the supporting trees the Cradles of Corellon. Elves and residents reach their elevated homes via bridges and spiral staircases connecting trees together. Magical springboards called weave springs are also used sparingly to catapult people upwards to a higher level or ridden downwards to move vertically through the trees. Occasionally daring elves may swing from one level to another via natural hanging vines, but a fall from the upper levels would likely be fatal. Thal Themar was constructed, unknowingly at the time, in a hotspot of planar tears to the feywild. Colours are noticeable vibrant, the healthy green of the leaves, browns of the trunks, and the purples, blues, and reds from the city's innate magic and feywild connections. At night, the planar boundary between weakens, causing the material plane's night sky to light up with a galaxy of colour. Stars on the material plane appear significantly closer, and are often studied by elven astronomers. The smell of wood, nature, rain, flavours, and softwood is often calming and meditative to residential elves and foreign visitors alike. Thal Themar is a relatively quiet city, with the sounds of the rainforest barely louder than its elegant inhabitants. === Weather === The weather is mostly warm and humid from the rainforest surrounding the city, making the air warm on the skin. Tropical storms occur sparingly from clashing weather fronts. In Thal Themar, storms like these are very significant as the city's damaged mythal infuses the storm with wild magic. == Religion == === Government === [[File:Myantha Valdan.jpg|thumb|Myantha Valdan post-battle]] Thal Themar is governed by a meritocracy determined by contest every 100 years. Hopeful elven leaders must choose one of the three possible seats of leadership, each one dealing with a different issue: Diplomacy and trade, magic and arcana, and military orders. These seats are termed the Seats of the Seldarine's Light, and at current all three seats are held by sisters of the Valdan family - Alea, Symania, and Myantha. == Society == [[Category:Locations]]
