Thadali has acted as an ally to the Lightbringers on several occasions.

Appearances

Introduction

Thadali has appeared multiple times during the Lightbringers' adventures. Thadali was first seen when the Lightbringers entered the City of Order for the first time, sitting alongside King Hillingham in the dining room. It was here that both Hillingham and Thadali proposed the quest of fetching Clarent from Dalgenen in Ruashoth for the Lawful Force of Anaar. Thadali marked each adventurer with an ethereal ring so he could keep track of them during their adventure, and as punishment for unlawful actions in the city.

Doveport

When the Lightbringers inquired about the Vistani outside Doveport, Lady Holt requested information from Thadali while the adventurers moved to clear them out from the surrounding lands.

Dalgenen Rescue

During the Lightbringers' battle against Grakos in Castle Ravenloft, Thadali used the rings cast previously on adventurers to summon himself a great distance and aid the group in their fight. Thadali temporarily held back Grakos as the adventurers linked arms for Thadali's teleportation spell to take them back to safety. Despite Thadali's assistance, Daevalur Sunmeadow was killed by Grakos just prior to teleporting. Thadali managed to teleport the full group back to Hearthsage Stronghold with Clarent where the adventurers rested and parted ways.

Teleportation Transport

Thadali has enabled the Lightbringers to travel great distances multiple times. Most recently, he teleported the group from the City of Order to an area close to Merliscire Hold, covering a continent in the jump.

Project Oversight

Thadali, alongside the drow Solas Dalmorrhaine, initiated the Lightbringers into the secret organization known as Project Oversight while in Azmarin. Thadali bound the group to temporary secrecy when describing their objective of infiltrating the City of Anarchy to discover who heads the Long Finger Brotherhood. Ultimately, the group was to kill this leader when their identity was discovered. Thadali offered a payment of 500,000 gold pieces in exchange for the service, and for secrecy behind who hired the Lightbringers.

Background

Not much is know about his earlier years, although he described himself as being "assigned to King Hillingham at birth" sometime close to 1505 AW. Thadali has held the title of High Mage of Anaar since then, acting as King Hillingham's Advisor of the Arcane on The High Council among many other duties.

The High Mage of Anaar

Thadali's position as High Mage of Anaar comes with many responsibilities. He sits on the High Council where he acts as Advisor of the Arcane and head of the Spellcaster Battalion of the Home Guard Regiment. Thadali also acts as a political buffer to King Hillingham regarding secrets gathered through Project Oversight, with Solas Dalmorrhaine transferring the information to the king through Thadali.

Magical Achievements

Orphior Thadali was awarded the title of Archmage by the Institute of Magic in 1466 AW after demonstrating exceptional skill across many schools of magic, particularly in conjuration. Shortly after this, the first of Thadali's penned works was produced, "Thadali's Compendium of Dynamic Projections". The text was widely acclaimed and is still used in modern conjuration education. He produced 3 more educational texts over the years of varying critical praise, and wrote the "Atlas of Endless Horizons" which he kept for himself. Thadali is rumored to have worked alongside the mysterious demonologist Iggwilv to co-author "The Demonomicon of Iggwilv" in his later years of academia, although this is unconfirmed by Thadali.

Thadali has been responsible for the discovery of multiple spells during his time as High Mage, most notably Thadali's Projected Shield, a ranged adaption to the classical shield spell.
